Thy hands have made me and fashioned me:

exercise, proper diet, the use of water,
trust in divine power--these are the true
remedies . . . Nature, untrammeled, does her
work wisely and well. Those who persevere in obedience
to her laws will reap the reward in health of body
and health of mind." {FLB 233.6}
"
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." - Prov. 3:5, 6
A very vital part of the health message, noting that
Jesus said, "... for without me ye can do nothing." (John 15:5)
"The lungs are constantly throwing off impurities,
and they need to be constantly supplied with fresh
air. Impure air does not afford the necessary supply
of oxygen, and the blood passes to the brain and other
organs without being vitalized. Hence the necessity
of thorough ventilation. To live in close, ill-ventilated
rooms, where the air is dead and vitiated, weakens the
entire system."
"Exercise aids the dyspeptic by giving the
digestive organs a healthy tone. To engage
in severe study or violent physical exercise
immediately after eating, hinders the work of
digestion; but a short walk after a meal, with
the head erect and the shoulders back, is a
great benefit."
"The pure air, the glad sunshine, the flowers
and trees, the orchards and vineyards, and outdoor
exercise amid these surroundings, are health-giving,
life-giving. How glad would they be to sit in the
open air, rejoice in the sunshine, and breathe the
fragrance of tree and flower! There are life-giving
properties in the balsam of the pine, in the fragrance
of the cedar and the fir, and other trees also have
properties that are health restoring."
"Nothing that pertains to physical perfection should
be looked upon as of little importance. In eating,
drinking, and dressing, the laws of health should be
diligently followed, and in regulating the hours for
sleep, there should be no haphazard work. No student
should form the habit of sitting up late at night to
burn the midnight oil, and then take the hours of
day for sleep."
"I should eat sparingly, thus relieving my system of
unnecessary burden, and should encourage cheerfulness,
and give myself the benefits of proper exercise in the
open air. I should bathe frequently, and drink freely
of pure, soft water. Thousands have died for want of
pure water and pure air, who might have lived. . . .
These blessings they need in order to become well."
"For Perfect Health Be Temperate in All Things.-- In
order to preserve health, temperance in all things is
necessary. . . . Our heavenly Father sent the light of
health reform to guard against the evils resulting from a
debased appetite, that those who love purity and holiness
may know how to use with discretion the good things He has
provided for them, and that by exercising temperance in
daily life, they may be sanctified through the truth."
"...people conscientiously abstain from
eating improper food, and at the same time neglect
to eat the food that would supply the elements
necessary for the proper sustenance of the body.
Let us never bear testimony against health reform
by failing to use wholesome, palatable food in place
of the harmful articles of diet that we have
discarded. Much tact and discretion should be
employed in preparing nourishing food to take
the place of that which has constituted the diet
of many families. This effort requires faith in
God, earnestness of purpose, and a willingness
to help one another. A diet lacking in the proper
elements of nutrition brings reproach upon the cause
of health reform. We are mortal, and must supply
ourselves with food that will give proper sustenance
to the body."
